Just 2days after Diwali, the state cabinet approved the implementation of the recommendations of Chaddha Committee on the revised pay scale for university and college teachers in Uttarakhand. There will be 40 to 50 per cent increase in the salery of ugc teachers as a result of this decision. The teachers will draw a salery somewhere between 33 to 79 thousands a month depending on their pay scale and seniority.

It was a long-long wait for teachers of higher eduaction in Uttarakhand to get their due.The Union Cabinet had already cleared UGC pay scale which was revised on the line of 6th pay commission. States like UP, Goa, AP, Panjab, Haryana,Delhi, WB,TN, Maharashtra etc.have taken lead to implement the Chaddha committee recommendations. Uttarakhand lagged behind many states in the implementation. It may take several weeks to finalise every thing as pay fixation process is time consuming. The 'baboos' may delay the implementation further because Govt. Order is still no where.
