UGC Pay Scale to University and College Teachers in UTTARAKHAND

Just 2days after Diwali, the state cabinet approved the implementation of the recommendations of Chaddha Committee on the revised pay scale for university and college teachers in Uttarakhand. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Dr.Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank in Dehradun on Tuesday, 20 Oct.2009.

The teachers working in GB Pant University of Ag& Tech., Kumaun University,GarhwalUniversity( for the period before formation of Central University), Sanskrit University, Technical, Open, Doon Universities, Government Degree colleges and government-aided colleges in the state, will get the benefit of the revised UGC pay scale from January 1, 2006.

There will be 40 to 50 per cent increase in the salery of ugc teachers as a result of this decision. The teachers will draw a salery somewhere between 33 to 79 thousands a month depending on their pay scale and seniority.

It was a long-long wait for teachers of higher eduaction in Uttarakhand to get their due.The Union Cabinet had already cleared UGC pay scale which was revised on the line of 6th pay commission. States like UP, Goa, AP, Panjab, Haryana,Delhi, WB,TN, Maharashtra etc.have taken lead to implement the Chaddha committee recommendations. Uttarakhand lagged behind many states in the implementation. It may take several weeks to finalise every thing as pay fixation process is time consuming. The 'baboos' may delay the implementation further because Govt. Order is still no where.

The State should have raised the retirement age from 60 to 65 years as per Central Government Order and Chadha Committee recommendations.
Hope it would be done in future.

Thank you for the information. However I would like to add that this government is really apathetic and insensitive towards the teachers of higher education. This state was carved out with a lot of hope. But leaders of this govt. don't look beyond school level education.

Thanks to uttarakhand govt. for implementing sixth pay commission to university teachers. It would be better if the govt. take initiative to accept it in toto so that UGC may cooperate finance for some more time.

University and college teachers will get their arrears from 01Jan2006 to Oct 31 2009, in three installments, which will be deposited in GPF account. This means that teachers are to get their revised pay only from November. Is is to be noted that Haryana govt. recently paid 40% of the arrear in cash form and teachers are hopeful to get rest of amounti.e.60% in cash very soon. This situation is in accordence with UGC recommendations and central govt acceptence. I do not hope the same from Uttarakhand Govt.
